Do I need to take a swab test before leaving?
If 15 days have not passed since the administration of the first dose of the vaccine, it is necessary to take a swab test, which is at the travelers' expense. The validity is 72 hours for molecular tests and 48 hours for rapid antigen tests. The swab can be performed at any analysis center, hospital, pharmacy, etc. The negative result must be shown on a certificate.
And if I have been vaccinated, do I still need to take a swab test?
In Italy, to obtain the Green Pass it is enough to have received the first dose of the vaccine at least 15 days ago. If this time has passed, it is not necessary to take a swab test.
What happens if the swab test is positive before departure?
If the swab test comes back positive before departure and you have contracted Covid, it will not be possible to leave.
Do I need to have the Green Pass to leave?
Not necessarily.
The Green Pass is a document that can be obtained under one of the following 3 conditions:
Having been vaccinated against Covid-19 with at least one dose within 14 days before departure;
having recovered from Covid-19;
having taken a molecular swab test less than 72 hours before.
Therefore, to leave it is enough to have a certificate, either paper or digital, that certifies one of the 3 conditions. The situation is constantly evolving and the current regulations may change, which is beyond our control.
